My mom was actually the first person to tell me about this and I considered it to be my life saver.
When I was pregnant with my 5 year old there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to breast feed. I was told by everyone that it is the best thing for your child. I was set on breastfeeding and doing whatever it took to reach my goal of feeding for at least 6 months to a year or until he weaned himself off. I succeeded with breastfeeding up to 10 months when he decided he was not interested anymore. Being just 2 months shy of a year I was thrilled with that. I must admit that the first few days, maybe even weeks, were not easy. From being engorged to latching on issues, it was a tough road. I think the toughest part was when my son cause my nipples to break and bleed. My mom saw how hard it was for me at this time and came to my house with a "Medela Nipple Shield". At first I didn't know what to think of it but when I began to use it, it was like night & day. I felt no pain or discomfort. The bleeding stopped and the scabs cleared up. The only con to using this is my son got used to it and I had to buy another one incase I lost the 1st one. It's easy to clean and best of all it is BPA free. I got mine at Target for about $10 (prices vary depending on the size you get). They come in Small, Medium & Large.
This was in my Hospital Bag for my second baby.
